Second place went to Berlin's TCBalance Biopharmaceuticals GmbH, which develops therapies based on regulatory T cells to address chronic diseases. Bonn's Sweethoven Biotech, known for creating a sustainable sweet-tasting fiber, took third place.

A special prize was awarded to TumiKo, an Essen-based start-up, giving them a guaranteed finalist position in next year's competition.
