2025 Mass Timber Competition Launches with $1.8 Million Fund for Sustainable Schools
The 2025 Mass Timber Competition, focused on sustainable K-12 schools, is now open for entries. Supported by the Softwood Lumber Board and USDA Forest Service, the contest offers $1.8 million in awards. Applicants have until January 13, 2025, to submit their proposals, with winners announced in June at the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design.
Eligible U.S. projects include a wide range of educational facilities, involving architects, engineers, and various organizations. The competition encourages the use of mass timber, aiming for innovation in design, resilience, and carbon reduction.
Entries will be evaluated on design quality, sustainability, and construction feasibility. Successful projects will share their findings with the wider construction community. WoodWorks and the Center for Green Schools assist with technical and educational outreach.
