2026 Cross-Strait (Kunshan) Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival Commences
The 2026 Cross-Strait (Kunshan) Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival began on the evening of September 16 in Kunshan, Jiangsu. This year's festival presents lantern displays at Huiju Square and Zhouzhuang and includes activities like a cross-Strait art exhibition, a traditional performing arts fair, and the "Moonlit Cultural Gathering" in a forest setting. The festival aims to bring together people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to enjoy cultural traditions.
The opening ceremony awarded winners of the "Kunshan Mazu Cup" Youth Lantern Design Competition and premiered a micro-drama, Crossing the Sea, emphasizing shared heritage across the Taiwan Strait. The festival coincides with the end of the sixth Cross-Strait Youth Culture Month, which hosted over 70 events.
This year highlights intangible cultural heritage, blending it with Taiwan-inspired elements in visual displays. Visitors experience AI-driven visual attractions and multimedia installations. Kunshan, a key hub for Taiwan investment, continuously fosters cultural exchanges since hosting the inaugural festival in 2013.
