EIT Digital, a key player in digital innovation, has rebranded as "28DIGITAL" after a 15-year journey. Originally launched as EIT ICT Labs in 2010, it has become Europe's largest open innovation ecosystem. Now independent, 28DIGITAL continues its collaboration with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) through a Memorandum of Collaboration.
The organization operates 23 offices across Europe and a global hub in Silicon Valley, focusing on Talent, Tech, and Trust. It has aided startups, trained students, and fostered connections between industry and policymakers. CEO Federico Menna states that the name change represents a commitment to Europe's startup and scaleup strategy, emphasizing a digital future aligned with European values.
28DIGITAL is positioned at the forefront of deep tech innovation, impacting sectors like health and energy, and promoting Europe's digital sovereignty and green transition. EIT Director Martin Kern recognizes this milestone as an opportunity for stronger cooperation and innovation in Europe.
