Aclara to Establish First U.S. Heavy Rare Earth Separation Facility in Louisiana by 2028

On October 24, 2025, Aclara Resources Inc. announced plans to build the first heavy rare earth separation facility in the United States. The facility, located in Louisiana, aims to secure sustainable feed from ionic clay deposits in Brazil and Chile by mid-2028. This project, marking a significant step in Aclara's strategy, will produce high-purity rare earths like Dysprosium and Terbium, crucial for technology applications such as electric vehicles and drones.

The facility is set to meet 75% of the U.S. demand for Dysprosium and Terbium by 2028, with Louisiana granting $46.4 million in incentives. Aclara plans a $277 million investment, leveraging the site’s logistical advantages and proximity to necessary reagents.

The company partners with Virginia Tech for technology validation, ensuring improved efficiency and operational data accumulation. Aclara's integrated approach, with strategic alignments from mining to production, aims to reshape rare earth supply chains in the Western Hemisphere.
