Aclara Resources Submits Improved EIA for Penco Module Project
Aclara Resources Inc. announced the submission of a new Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Penco Module project in Concepción, Chile. The updated EIA incorporates an improved technical design addressing environmental and social requirements highlighted by public services and local communities.
The EIA includes commitments to protect native forests, involving the exclusion of the Jupiter deposition zone and the modification of other components to protect vulnerable species. The project also guarantees the use of 100% recycled water and the revegetation of over 100 hectares with native species.
Aclara has engaged in community-driven initiatives, including holding meetings with over 1,000 Penco residents, conducting 400 guided tours of its pilot plant, and establishing Casa Aclara, a dedicated space for community dialogue. Feedback from these initiatives has been incorporated into the project design.
The company expects an 18-month evaluation period by the Environmental Service Assessment (SEA). Adjustments will be made as required to meet SEA’s requirements.
