ADI to Develop Innovative Open Process Automation Testbed with Siemens at MxD

Applied Dynamics International (ADI) has been awarded a contract by MxD to design and install an Integrated Open Process Automation (OPA) Testbed in Chicago. This initiative, set to complete by mid-2025, involves collaboration with Siemens and the University of Michigan's Barton Research Group. The testbed aims to showcase the benefits of open process automation, digital twins, and AI technologies in manufacturing.

The testbed will integrate MxD's existing digital twin testbeds into a unified system. It will demonstrate how digital twin technology can leverage machine learning for process monitoring and predictive maintenance. ADI's ADEPT platform and Siemens's PCS neo will play key roles, connecting real-time edge computing with industrial control software.

This project indicates a shift towards open automation, facilitating interoperability among various hardware and software, encouraging innovation, and enhancing competition. Digital twins offer dynamic digital representations of physical assets, aiding anomaly detection and scenario testing without risk.
