Ecuador's Banana Sector Strengthens Labor Agreement
The Ecuadorian Banana and Plantain Cluster has renewed its labor agreement with Fenacle, a prominent agricultural union, reinforcing the commitment to improve working conditions in the banana sector. This renewal, signed on International Workers’ Day in Babahoyo, underscores their dedication to meeting global labor standards.
This agreement, in place since September 2024, emphasizes five areas: developing labor regulation training, facilitating complaints to labor authorities, monitoring social security enrollment, protecting freedom of association, and promoting technological and athletic skills.
José Antonio Hidalgo, coordinator of the Banana and Plantain Cluster, highlighted the sector's commitment to responsible production. Fenacle's president, Ángel Rivero, noted the focus on training women and youth, assessing past achievements like medical brigades and workshops.
