AI Lab Launched for Advancing Math Research and Education

The Stevens Institute of Technology and Nebius Academy have unveiled a new lab in Hoboken, New Jersey, focused on utilizing AI to transform math research and education. Opened on March 12, the lab aims to investigate how AI, particularly large language models, can enhance mathematical reasoning and teaching methods. The collaboration is intended to improve student outcomes and facilitate the solving of open math problems.

Elena Bunina of Nebius Academy highlights the potential for AI to revolutionize the math research process by assisting in hypothesis generation and theorem verification. Meanwhile, the lab will prepare students to incorporate AI into their work through specialized courses and practical projects in areas like graph theory.

Stevens President Nariman Farvardin emphasizes the transformative impact of this initiative, aiming to push the boundaries of mathematical understanding. Additionally, the lab will partner with Gradarius, an edtech company, to integrate advanced math education platforms into its activities.
