Air Liquide Invests Over 250 Million Euros in Europe's Semiconductor Industry
Air Liquide announced a significant investment exceeding 250 million euros to bolster the semiconductor industry in Europe. The company has signed a long-term contract to build advanced gas production units in Dresden, Germany, a crucial hub known as "Silicon Saxony." This marks the largest investment by Air Liquide in Europe's electronics sector, enhancing its market stronghold.
The initiative includes constructing three Air Separation Units, two hydrogen production units, and essential infrastructure. These will ensure a stable supply of ultra-pure gases for semiconductor manufacturing. Operations are set to begin in 2027, leveraging digital technologies and aiming for complete use of renewable electricity.
This investment solidifies Air Liquide's role as a leader in the semiconductor sector and aligns with its strategy to support technological advancements while minimizing environmental impacts. The facility will reduce emissions by lowering the need for gas transportation through trucks.
