Innovative Plastic Recycling Plant Opens in Modena

Aliplast, a subsidiary of Herambiente Group, has inaugurated R3GID, a new plant dedicated to recycling rigid plastics in Modena, Italy. This facility is one of the first in Europe equipped to handle the increasing demand for recycled plastics in light of impending EU regulations. It can process up to 30,000 tonnes of high-quality recycled polymers annually, achieving a purity level exceeding 99%.

The plant, built with a €48.8 million investment, is supported by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan. It targets recycling waste from various sectors including automotive and consumer electronics, offering alternatives to landfill or energy recovery. R3GID aims to bolster Italian industry by reducing reliance on foreign materials.

Hera Group collaborated with NEXTCHEM, deploying NX Replast™ technology to produce recycled polymers that can replace virgin fossil materials. Aliplast's operations will exceed 210,000 tonnes of high-quality raw materials annually by year's end, diversifying recycling efforts in Italy.
