Allianz SE to Divest Stake in Indian Insurance Ventures
On March 17, 2025, Allianz SE announced it had entered into binding agreements with Bajaj Finserv Ltd. to sell its 26% stake in Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company and Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company. The sale to Bajaj Group is valued at approximately EUR 2.6 billion. Allianz plans to receive the payment in several installments.
This decision emerged from positive discussions with Bajaj Finserv. Allianz remains optimistic about the Indian market, viewing it as a growth region. The company aims to reinvest proceeds into new ventures to strengthen its investor and operator roles in India.
The sale awaits necessary regulatory approvals that may take several months. Once completed, Allianz will also terminate its joint venture agreements with Bajaj Finserv. The company plans to adhere to its capital management strategy updated in December 2024, balancing earnings distribution with strategic reinvestment.
