Alstom will supply fifteen new metro trains to the Métropole Européenne de Lille (MEL) for a total of €210 million. These 52-metre-long trains will incorporate Urbalis Fluence technology, an innovative signalling and automatic piloting system. The order is in addition to the 27 trains already planned, bringing the total number to 42.

This initiative is part of a network modernization plan, replacing the old VAL 208 trains by 2028. The new trains will improve comfort and accessibility thanks to their open configuration and an enhanced information system. They will also be equipped with energy-efficient equipment and will help reduce the intervals between trains to 66 seconds during peak hours.

Assembly will take place at six Alstom sites in France, with significant participation from the Valenciennes site for design and testing. With its Metropolis solutions, Alstom continues to play a key role in the development of sustainable urban transport.
