Ams OSRAM Divests Sensor Business to Infineon for Strategic Repositioning

ams OSRAM, a prominent player in the semiconductor industry, has announced the sale of its non-optical analog/mixed-signal sensor division to Infineon for EUR 570 million in cash. This move is expected to significantly reduce the company’s leverage ratio from 3.3 to 2.5, aligning with their strategic goal of becoming a leader in Digital Photonics.

This transaction, anticipated to close by the second quarter of 2026, is a crucial step in ams OSRAM’s strategic shift. By selling a business that generated EUR 220 million in annual revenues in 2025, the company aims to enhance its focus on digital photonics, which involves the digitization of light emission and sensing technologies.

As a result, ams OSRAM is well-positioned to capitalize on market growth in areas such as augmented reality, robotics, and autonomous vehicles, while maintaining its traditional automotive lamps business to support cash flow and internal financing.
