Ams OSRAM Completes Sale of Passive Optical Components to Focuslight Technologies

ams OSRAM has finalized the sale of its Passive Optical Components assets to Focuslight Technologies Inc. for approximately EUR 45 million in cash. This move is part of its strategic efficiency program dubbed 'Re-establish the Base'. The program targets non-core business exits in the semiconductor portfolio to streamline operations.

CEO Aldo Kamper highlighted the accomplishment as a significant step towards the company's goal of achieving run-rate savings of EUR 75 million by the end of this year, and EUR 150 million by the end of 2025. The assets sold include facilities in Singapore and Switzerland, along with R&D capacities and related intellectual property.

Focuslight Technologies, a rapidly expanding player in optical technologies based in Xi'an, China, will integrate these assets into its operations. The transaction was initially announced in May 2024, with the strategic alignment emphasized on enhancing sustainable and profitable growth.
