Analysis of Finsbury Growth & Income Trust's Long-term Performance

Finsbury Growth & Income Trust (FGT), actively managed by Lindsell Train since 2001, has demonstrated a strong long-term performance. Nick Train, the lead manager, has acquired a 2.9% stake in the trust, showing confidence in his investment strategy. Despite recent underperformance in the past three years, FGT has delivered a 9.0% annual NAV total return from 2001 to 2023, significantly outperforming the UK market's 5.1%.

Under the guidance of Train and deputy manager Madeline Wright, FGT maintains its status as the top-performing fund in the AIC UK Equity Income sector over the last decade. The fund's concentrated portfolio approach, aimed at wealth creation, may see enhanced valuations if shorter-term performances improve, given the current wider discount relative to historical averages.
