Anson Resources Granted Permit for Green River Lithium Project
Anson Resources Limited (ASX:ASN) has achieved a significant milestone with the approval of its Underground Injection Control (UIC) application for Class V wells. This permit, granted by the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, allows the company to dispose of processed brine from its Green River Lithium Project in southeastern Utah.
The approval follows a review process that included public comments. The disposal wells, to be situated on property owned by Blackstone Mineral NV LLC, will manage brine from a planned production of 10,000 tons of lithium carbonate annually.
Specific conditions for the Class V wells mandate that the brine be re-injected into the same geological formation from which it was extracted. Anson's Direct Lithium Extraction process ensures compliance with these requirements, thereby avoiding dilution and maintaining the geochemical balance.
Preliminary surveys have shown no environmental or archaeological concerns, minimizing site disturbance. The project will use existing infrastructural routes, further limiting its environmental footprint. The wells will be drilled in historically used areas, proving their capability to handle waste brine.
Executive Chairman and CEO Bruce Richardson highlighted the rapid progress and support from local and state authorities. The project aligns with Anson's commitment to sustainable development and community engagement.
