Aperam Releases 2023 Sustainability Report Emphasizing Advances in Environmental Performance

Aperam announced the publication of its sustainability report for 2023, titled 'made for life,' evaluating the company's environmental and safety performance according to the 2021 GRI sustainability standards. The report, externally audited by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, highlights the company’s advancements in reducing CO2 emissions and enhancing safety measures.

The report details Aperam's CO2 equivalent emissions, indicating a reduction from 0.32 in 2022 to 0.28 tCO2e/tcs in 2023, surpassing its targets well ahead of the 2030 goal. This achievement underlines its success in integrating sustainable practices, notably through its use of steel scrap and charcoal in production processes, and the management of its FSC©-certified forests geared towards carbon sequestration.

Aperam’s sustainability efforts have been recognized repeatedly, including a repeat A- rating from CDP Climate and maintaining its ResponsibleSteelTM certification across its operations in Europe and Brazil—a first for the stainless steel sector. Despite economic challenges in 2023, Aperam commits to expanding sustainable practices and pioneering new business models centered around recycling and renewable energy.
