On April 23, 2024, Aramco and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team launched the "Make A Mark" initiative in Shanghai, focusing on engaging local middle school students with the fascinating world of Formula One. The program highlights key educational areas such as aerodynamics, material innovation, and future-oriented, low-carbon fuel technologies.
During the event, Jessica Hawkins and Pedro de la Rosa from Aston Martin Aramco’s team interacted with students, emphasizing the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. They expressed a strong desire to inspire the next generation of engineers and drivers. The initiative also provided an interactive experience for students, including a "reaction time" test and go-kart driving, to give them a taste of the demanding and thrilling nature of motorsports.
Highlighting the future of the sport, de la Rosa discussed the transition of Formula One to sustainable fuels by 2026 and the goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. This aligns with the broader objectives of the event to showcase sustainable practices within the high-speed world of racing.
