Launch of the first geothermal drilling operation for the Lithium de France project by Arverne
Arverne, a leading French provider of geothermal solutions, has announced the start of drilling for the Lithium de France project in Schwabwiller, Alsace. The geothermal doublet, consisting of two wells, will confirm the geothermal performance and lithium content.
Aimed at the energy transition, this project will provide carbon-free geothermal heat to businesses and communities in Alsace. The extracted lithium will be used to support electric mobility. With nearly 200 jobs created, this initiative will contribute to regional decarbonization, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.
The drilling will take place over seven months and will positively influence Arverne's 2025 financial forecasts, with an expected increase of between 45% and 55% compared to 2024.
