Asklepios Kliniken Reports Stable Performance Amidst Challenges in 2023

Asklepios Kliniken GmbH & Co. KGaA has reported satisfactory financial results for the 2023 fiscal year, demonstrating resilience despite economic and sectoral challenges. The company managed to maintain its net consolidated income steady from the previous year, despite facing substantial inflation and disruptions due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which impacted costs significantly.

The healthcare group treated about 3.5 million patients across its 164 facilities and increased its revenue to EUR 5,452.3 million, up from EUR 5,290.0 million in 2022. This growth occurred even though material costs and staff expenses rose, driven by inflation and a strategic initiative to combat the shortage of qualified personnel by hiring internationally. The group succeeded in slightly increasing the number of treated patients while effectively managing an increase in full-time staff.

With an implemented investment of EUR 229.6 million from own funds, primarily directed towards enhancing medical care and focusing on sustainable development, including digital transformation, Asklepios aims to stay prepared for further challenges like the forthcoming hospital reform anticipated to strain healthcare facilities extensively.

Looking into 2024, Asklepios expects ongoing geopolitical tensions and inflation to continue affecting the business but remains confident in its ability to sustain revenue and earnings performance similar to 2023, keeping the company well-prepared against macroeconomic fluctuations and upcoming regulatory changes.
