Aston Bay and American West Metals to Initiate Geophysical Program at Storm Copper Project in Canada
Aston Bay Holdings Ltd., together with American West Metals Limited, has announced the beginning of a comprehensive geophysical and exploration program at the Storm Copper Project on Somerset Island, Nunavut. This initiative, solely funded by American West, aims to identify new copper discoveries by generating priority drill targets. The field work, including detailed surface electromagnetic (EM) surveys and Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling, will start shortly focusing around the known Storm copper mineralization areas and then extend into the regional Blizzard, Tornado, and Tempest prospects.
Notably, the program will utilize a high-powered Moving Loop EM (MLEM) system to investigate both shallow (less than 200 meters depth) and deeper (up to 500 meters depth) potential copper mineralization zones. Historical explorations using EM surveys have already proven successful in identifying high-grade copper sulfides within the Storm Project area. The upcoming surveys, powered by an energy source more than twice as strong as previous endeavors, aim to uncover additional copper deposits at both the known Storm site and the adjacent prospects.
Thomas Ullrich, CEO of Aston Bay, expressed enthusiasm for the program, emphasizing the potential of the high-powered EM system to reveal significant new copper discoveries. The geophysical surveys are expected to enhance the understanding of the mineralization extent and support future drilling programs. This ambitious exploration project marks a promising development in uncovering the copper potential of the Storm Copper Project and its surrounding areas.
