Aurubis AG Opens Innovative ASPA Recycling Plant in Belgium

Aurubis AG has launched the ASPA recycling plant in Beerse, Belgium. The Advanced Sludge Processing by Aurubis (ASPA) facility marks a significant step in closing waste cycles and advancing recycling efficiency. This state-of-the-art plant speeds up the extraction of tin and precious metals from anode sludges, an intermediate product from electrolytic copper refining.

The €33 million investment will create around 20 new jobs. The project aims to optimize material flows and strengthen connections between European sites, highlighting Aurubis’ commitment to sustainable multimetal production.

ASPA is part of Aurubis' broader strategic roadmap, enhancing its position as a leader in metal recycling and reinforcing its role in the European circular economy. The company is also expanding with new facilities in Georgia, USA, and Olen, Belgium.
