Avolta Expands Presence in Asia-Pacific with New Duty-Free Contract in Medan, Indonesia
Avolta AG, a prominent player in the global travel experience sector, has fortified its position in the Asia-Pacific region by securing a duty-free contract at Kualanamu International Airport in Medan, Indonesia. This development marks Avolta's first venture in Medan, augmenting its Indonesian presence, where it already operates nearly 50 stores.
Set to initiate operations in July 2024, Avolta plans to open two stores at the airport, with the prospect of upgrading the departures store within two years to a larger, walk-through format. The offerings will include a broad selection of products spanning liquor, tobacco, perfumes, cosmetics, confectionery, sunglasses, and travel essentials, catering to the diverse preferences of travelers.
David Mackay of Avolta emphasized the aim to enhance travelers' shopping experiences in Medan in collaboration with Angkasa Pura Aviasi. Simultaneously, Kedar Deshpande of PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi recognized the strategic partnership with Avolta to develop the airport's non-aeronautical business, anticipating a unique and immersive retail experience for international passengers.
