Avolta Extends Edinburgh Airport Partnership with a Seven-Year Contract and Retail Space Expansion

Avolta AG (SIX: AVOL) has announced the extension of its contract at Edinburgh Airport for seven more years, enhancing its over twenty years of operations. This development not only extends the operation period but also enlarges the retail space by 30%. Edinburgh Airport, Scotland's busiest, hosts roughly 15 million passengers annually, playing a crucial role in the local economy through its extensive connectivity.

With the contract renewal, Avolta plans a comprehensive refurbishment of its tax and duty-free store, increasing the area to 1,740m² and continuing the walkthrough format. The revamp will focus on Scottish themes, including a dedicated local food area and a significant presentation of Scotland’s famous whisky, liquor, and food. Furthermore, the store will introduce a Haute Parfumerie area featuring premium brands and new beauty product lines, enhancing the shopping experience for travelers.

The upgraded World Duty Free store at Edinburgh Airport aims to integrate digital features, like an interactive fragrance finder and virtual reality for makeup trials, reflecting the digitization trend in travel retail. Avolta and Edinburgh Airport executives express optimism about the store’s future role in improving the passenger experience while promoting Scottish brands and products globally.
