Bereket Döner Defends Turkish Culinary Heritage in EU Recognition Debate
Bereket Döner, a prominent name in Turkish cuisine, recently entered the debate over the recognition of döner kebab as a traditional product within the EU. Germany opposed Turkey's application to the European Commission, but Bereket Döner responded by unveiling an academic study in Istanbul supporting the Turkish origins of döner. This study presents historical evidence, tracing döner back to the Classical Ottoman Period.
The Vice Chairman of the Board, Mevlüt Ceyhun Tekdemir, emphasized the dish's historical and cultural significance. The study, titled "Türkiye’s World-Famous Delicacy: Döner," aims to solidify döner’s position as a cultural connector between Turkish and European communities.
Bereket Döner also announced plans to expand its Döner Point brand in Europe, starting with Germany, to introduce the authentic taste of Turkish döner to more Europeans. This initiative reflects their commitment to preserving and sharing this culinary heritage globally.
