Bermuda Carbon Commission Launches at Climate Finance Forum
The Bermuda Carbon Commission (BCC) was introduced at the Green Overseas Climate Finance Forum in London. This initiative aims to transform global carbon markets by focusing on blue carbon solutions. It utilizes Bermuda's unique marine ecosystem and blockchain technology for certifying carbon credits.
The BCC will manage carbon credit certifications through projects like seagrass and mangrove restoration, floating solar, and coral reef protection. These efforts aim to enhance transparency and trust in carbon markets, serving as a model for other islands to follow.
Scott Kilduff Jr. of the Klima Foundation emphasized the role of technology, stating that blockchain helps the BCC achieve high transparency and impact in carbon markets. Darren Wolfberg, Co-Founder of Triangle Digital, shared that real-time verification enhances trust and accountability.
Kevin Richards highlighted the global impact potential of the BCC, aiming to support sustainable economies worldwide through certified carbon credits.
