Canada Expands Cybersecurity Training Investment in ASEAN Region
The Government of Canada is increasing its investment in cybersecurity training for ASEAN countries, announced during the 47th ASEAN Leaders Summit in Kuala Lumpur. Global Affairs Canada will provide CAD $226,000 to the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and BlackBerry Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE). The two-year initiative aims to train 100 professionals in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, focusing on cyber-resilience and workforce development.
This investment builds on Canada's previous $3.9 million CAD commitment, enhancing cybersecurity expertise and partnerships with BlackBerry, MCMC, and Toronto Metropolitan University's Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst. Key components include a Women's Program and an ASEAN Week scheduled for 2026, with both technical and non-technical tracks.
