BluSky Carbon Secures US$105 Million Biochar Sales Agreement

BluSky Carbon Inc. has announced a US$105 million sales agreement with a U.S.-based purchaser. This ten-year contract will see BluSky supplying up to 382,213 tonnes of biochar for agricultural use in Southern USA. The initial delivery will include approximately 22,200 short tons in the first year, scaling up to 40,000 tons annually thereafter.

Biochar, produced from biomass or agricultural waste, will be supplied with verified moisture content through a Certificate of Analysis at delivery. The agreed price is US$275 per ton. However, future production depends on BluSky acquiring and commissioning additional biomass pyrolysis systems.

Failure to meet terms could lead to termination. If USDA funding changes, the agreement's terms may be renegotiated. Emlia Partners facilitated the deal, highlighting BluSky's innovation in carbon removal.

BluSky CEO Will Hessert emphasized the significance of this deal, noting the company's readiness to scale operations and contribute to climate change mitigation.
