BluSky Carbon Supports EPA's New Biochar Guidelines

BluSky Carbon Inc. has expressed support for the U.S. Biochar Coalition's efforts leading to a significant regulatory shift. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has redefined its stance on biochar production, removing biochar from overly stringent Clean Air Act regulations previously applied as waste incineration. This change addresses concerns within the biochar sector regarding delays and costs incurred under the prior regulatory framework.

The EPA's updated guidance reclassifies biochar, produced from clean cellulosic biomass, as a "traditional product" instead of waste. This clears pathways through the Other Solid Waste Incineration regulations, easing project approvals and reducing negative public perceptions tied to incineration processes.
