Boxwood Partners completes its first transaction in the education and youth enrichment sector with the sale of Sylvan Learning

Boxwood Partners, a recognized mid-sized investment bank, proudly announces that it has completed the sale of Sylvan Learning to Unleashed Brands, part of the Seidler Equity Partners portfolio. Sylvan Learning, with more than 500 franchises, has dominated the supplemental education market for K-12 students for more than 45 years. This sale marks Boxwood's first foray into the field of education and youth enrichment.

Surrounded by a team of experts, including Brian Alas as director, this transaction strengthens Boxwood's position in the franchise sector, having already completed more than 35 transactions. Sylvan's recent emphasis on innovation, notably through the development of SylvanSyncTM and other virtual offerings, provides the company with sustained growth prospects.

Sylvan's international franchise base, with locations across 175 franchisors, benefits from significant investment in digital infrastructure, enabling it to meet diverse educational needs using online and face-to-face formats. This strategy was welcomed by John McAuliffe, CEO of Sylvan, highlighting Boxwood's expertise and commitment to the success of this operation.

Unleashed Brands' acquisition of Sylvan also signifies the integration of Sylvan's market-leading tutoring services into a broader platform, aimed at supporting the education of more than 25 million children annually. According to Madison Day, vice president at Boxwood, Sylvan stands out for its sustained post-COVID growth in the youth education sector.
