France's Renewable Gas Initiative Supports Pyrolysis Integration

CHAR Technologies Ltd. has announced a landmark regulatory advancement in France's renewable gas sector. France proposes including pyrolysis in its state-backed renewable gas support scheme, CPB. This expansion presents a notable opportunity for CHAR Tech's High-Temperature Pyrolysis (HTP) projects, developed through a partnership with GazoTech SAS.

The new decree, if adopted, will enable pyrolysis and gasification pathways within the CPB framework, which historically supported only anaerobic digestion and landfill gas capture. This regulatory move enhances the market prospects for CHAR Tech's HTP systems, pivotal for the Bio-Méthane Provence project.

Located in Gardanne, Bio-Méthane Provence anticipates processing 115,000 tonnes of recovered wood annually. It is expected to produce 230 GWh of renewable natural gas and 12,000 tonnes of biocarbon, aiming for commercial operations by H2 2029, conditional on the necessary approvals and financing.
