Coffman Engineers Expands Services with AC Interference Offerings

Coffman Engineers, a national multidiscipline engineering firm, now offers AC interference services as part of its corrosion control capabilities. The firm welcomes Andrew Onken, Alex Ristow, and Eli Rassler, industry veterans, to lead this initiative. This service is vital for protecting oil and gas infrastructure from the adverse effects of high-voltage powerlines on buried pipelines.

Andrew Onken brings over 12 years of experience as a corrosion and integrity engineering supervisor, holding advanced degrees in chemical engineering and multiple NACE certifications. His expertise includes leading engineer teams in cathodic protection and AC mitigation for pipeline projects. Ristow and Rassler, who have previously collaborated with Onken and Coffman, will also join the remote team based in Duluth, Minnesota.

AC interference, a negative interaction between powerlines and pipelines, accelerates corrosion, compromises pipeline integrity, and poses electrical safety risks. Coffman addresses these challenges by employing technical software for computer modeling and designing mitigation systems to reduce safety risks.
