Collaboration to Explore Sustainable Aviation Fuels in Saudi Arabia
Aramco, TotalEnergies, and the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC) have announced a joint agreement to assess the feasibility of a sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) production unit in Saudi Arabia. This initiative coincides with President Emmanuel Macron's visit to the Kingdom.
The project aims to leverage local residues from the circular economy, including used cooking oils and animal fats, to create SAF. This aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and Green Initiative, supporting the decarbonization of the aviation sector as air travel demand rises.
Executives from the involved companies, including Amin H. Nasser of Aramco and Patrick Pouyanné of TotalEnergies, emphasized the importance of collaboration for reducing aviation emissions and furthering sustainable initiatives.
