Commerzbank Appoints Carsten Schmitt as New CFO
Commerzbank's Supervisory Board has announced the appointment of Carsten Schmitt as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Schmitt will succeed Bettina Orlopp, who has served as CFO since March 2020 and recently took on the role of CEO. Carsten Schmitt transitions from Danske Bank, where he was Executive Vice President of Group Strategy and M&A. His prior experience includes over 20 years at Commerzbank, culminating as head of the Group Finance segment.
Jens Weidmann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, highlighted Schmitt's extensive experience in the financial sector and his familiarity with Commerzbank as key assets for his new role. The focus will be on strategic development and achieving financial goals.
Current CEO Bettina Orlopp expressed enthusiasm about Schmitt rejoining the management team, emphasizing his financial expertise and strategic insight.
