CFS Joins UKAEA's LIBRTI Programme as First International Partner

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS), the largest fusion energy firm, has been named the first international partner in the UK Atomic Energy Authority's (UKAEA) Lithium Breeding Tritium Innovation (LIBRTI) programme. This partnership allows CFS early access to UKAEA's cutting-edge facilities for tritium blanket technology testing. The LIBRTI programme, backed by £220 million in UK government funding, aims to achieve net tritium production, a key step in commercializing fusion energy.

CFS, originating from the MIT and funded with over $3 billion in capital, gains crucial resources to test and refine its fusion blanket systems. The collaboration will involve designing test setups and developing testing protocols at UKAEA's Culham Campus. This project is an extension of efforts following the King's Address to the U.S. Congress earlier this year, reinforcing global collaboration in fusion research.
