DATAGROUP Reinforces Cyber Security at Universities in NRW

Pliezhausen, 3 July 2024 – DATAGROUP has initiated the SOC-Hochschulen.nrw project to enhance IT security at 24 universities in North Rhine-Westphalia. The project, set for 36 months with possible extensions, involves a multi-million-euro contract supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia. Modern security services will be implemented and managed by DATAGROUP and monitored by the Security Operation Center (SOC).

The SOC, to be installed by Hochschule Bielefeld in collaboration with DATAGROUP, follows a successful pilot phase at three universities. All institutions will join the project by year-end. Proactive monitoring to identify vulnerabilities is a key component, addressing specific challenges posed by universities' open IT structures amidst rising cybercrime threats.

Commenting on the initiative, Andreas Baresel, CEO of DATAGROUP, highlighted its strategic significance in advancing cyber security, cloud, and AI technologies. He emphasized the project's role in fortifying IT infrastructure at North Rhine-Westphalia's universities.
