ECW Allocates US$2 Million for Education in Flood-Affected Pakistan

Education Cannot Wait (ECW) has announced a US$2 million First Emergency Response grant dedicated to aiding children impacted by the severe monsoon floods in Pakistan. The Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN) will oversee the 12-month grant, coordinating with local and national organizations to ensure education access for 34,483 students.

This initiative focuses on children in districts like Sialkot, Narowal, Jhang, and Swat, providing essential resources amid the challenge of 367,000 school-aged children currently out of school. Interventions include rehabilitating schools, establishing temporary learning centers, and offering gender-sensitive educational materials.

This support aligns with the Pakistan Humanitarian Response Plan, aiming to create resilient educational systems. Such comprehensive measures stress the importance of inclusive education, especially for girls and children with disabilities.
