ElecLink Operations Face Extended Technical Delays
A technical interruption affecting the ElecLink electrical interconnector between France and the UK has been ongoing since 25 September, due to a fault in the cable's foundation on the French side. Initial repairs revealed a second fault, also linked to the original issue. This will necessitate additional cable section replacement and rejoining operations, delaying the service return by approximately eight weeks.
The resumption of operations is now projected for 10 February 2025. The commercial impact of this suspension until the end of 2024 is estimated at roughly 11 million euros. Additionally, the first six weeks of 2025 could see an impact of around 30 million euros. Despite these challenges, Getlink maintains its 2024 EBITDA target range unchanged.
Getlink's management is set to address financial analysts and institutional investors in a call scheduled for 16 December 2024.
