EMBARC to Collaborate with Insmed on Brensocatib Study in Bronchiectasis
The European Multicentre Bronchiectasis Audit and Research Collaboration (EMBARC) has announced its intention to work with Insmed Incorporated on a significant study examining the potential of the drug brensocatib in treating bronchiectasis. This interventional study, highlighted at the World Bronchiectasis Conference, aims to enroll approximately 3,000 patients across several European countries.
This study intends to assess the long-term effectiveness of brensocatib, focusing on its ability to potentially modify the course of the disease. Building on earlier trials, it will seek to determine whether early intervention can alter the disease’s trajectory rather than just slowing its progression. Despite bronchiectasis affecting millions, current treatments mainly aim to reduce symptom severity.
Lead investigator James Chalmers emphasizes the importance of this study in potentially reshaping treatment approaches for bronchiectasis. The collaboration further reinforces Insmed's commitment to innovation in treating chronic lung diseases.
