Nigeria NOW! Launch Attracts Global Investors to Abuja
The maiden edition of Nigeria NOW! is set to occur on November 19-20 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. Organized by the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development in partnership with EnergyNet, the event is expected to gather 500-600 delegates from the energy, infrastructure, and mining sectors. The Ministry, engaged throughout the event's preparation, aims to create a platform for investment and collaboration, involving four federal ministries.
Nigeria imposes a policy that requires a local processing plant for any new mining license, boosting investment. This strategy has led to significant partnerships, including a $1.3 billion alumina refinery venture with the Africa Finance Corporation. Additionally, a newly commissioned lithium plant in Nasarawa State exemplifies Nigeria's progress, transforming sector revenues notably from 6 billion to over 38 billion naira between 2023 and 2024.
Nigeria NOW! will focus on projects, capital, and partnerships over announcements. Notably, Nextier advises strategically, and the Nigerian Indigenous Women in Mining and Natural Resources Organisation joins as Women in Mining Partner. The Youth Energy Summit will run concurrently, fostering youth engagement alongside investors and ministries.
