Epanko Graphite Project Secures Life-of-Mine Licence
EcoGraf Limited has announced the approval of a Special Mining Licence (SML) for the Epanko Graphite Project in Tanzania, marking a significant step for the venture. Granted on March 3, 2025, the licence is valid for 25 years and is crucial for securing project financing. The mining area has expanded nearly double its size, now covering 18.9 km2.
This milestone aligns with EcoGraf's strategic objectives to enhance graphite production, supporting the demand surge for natural graphite in electric vehicles and clean energy storage markets. The Epanko site features a robust mineral resource of 290.8 million tonnes, positioning it as the largest graphite deposit ready for development in Africa.
EcoGraf is collaborating with KfW IPEX-Bank to arrange up to USD 105 million in financing. The expanded licence is expected to bolster multi-generational operations, paving the way for future production scale-ups.
