EV Nickel Achieves Over 90% Nickel Extraction in Pilot Bioleach Test

EV Nickel Inc. has reported promising results from its pilot-scale bioleaching tests, achieving a 90.1% nickel extraction rate and successful nickel sulphate production with 98.2% purity. The bioleaching technology presents a cost-effective processing alternative, eliminating the need for expensive smelters and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The pilot process, conducted over 16 days, confirmed over 99% recovery of both nickel and cobalt as a mixed hydroxide precipitate, with minimal losses. The technology also allows efficient iron removal and magnesium recovery as a by-product. This positions EV Nickel as a promising player in the eco-friendly nickel production sector, suitable for electric vehicle battery manufacturing.

The results significantly support EVNi's flotation-bioleach flowsheet, paving the way for future development of a full-scale bioleaching facility and further collaborations in the nickel industry.
