Experience Alberta's Larch Season at Banff Sunshine Meadows

Witness the spectacular transformation of larch trees this fall at Banff Sunshine Meadows. Nestled in the Canadian Rockies at 7,000 feet above sea level, the resort offers an extraordinary display as Alberta's larch trees turn golden at Banff Sunshine Village.

As cool air arrives, the unique deciduous conifers' needles turn yellow and orange, marking larch season in the Rockies. Known as "Laryx," these trees are the only pines that shed needles to conserve energy and water for winter. The enchanting transformation draws explorers to the resort for this seasonal marvel.

"Larch season is a beautiful time in Banff National Park," says Kendra Scurfield, VP of Marketing, Brand and Communications. Banff Sunshine Meadows boasts over 10 kilometers of trails for hiking, sightseeing, and photography, featuring panoramic views from the Standish Viewing Deck.

Visitors can enjoy a 22-minute gondola ride and sightseeing chairlift for $68 + GST for adults and $35 + GST for youth. The resort's Sunshine Mountain Lodge offers luxury accommodations with direct access to the meadows. Open daily from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. until September 22, 2024.
