Federal Network Agency's Decision on Frequency Allocation

Montabaur, 24 March 2025. The Federal Network Agency has announced its decision regarding the allocation of frequencies available from January 2026. The decision extends frequency rights for Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, and Telefónica. These operators must allow 1&1 access to part of their low-band spectrum for shared use, ensuring fair negotiations. If 1&1 is denied access by January 2026, the Agency may enforce it.

1&1 CEO Ralph Dommermuth emphasizes the need for equitable conditions and highlights that the extension could be seen as a subsidy for competitors. He stresses the importance of balanced opportunities in future allocations.

1&1 has made significant strides since the 2019 auction, establishing a unique Open-RAN network now serving millions and continuing to expand.
