First Phosphate Corp undertakes the construction of a plant at the Port of Saguenay

First Phosphate Corp. has announced an update regarding its plans to construct a purified phosphoric acid plant at the Port of Saguenay in Quebec. This ambitious project is part of the company's strategy to develop a battery valley based on iron and lithium phosphate in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.

During a presentation to the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region in November 2022, John Passalacqua, CEO of First Phosphate, shared the company's vision for the LFP battery ecosystem in this region. Since this initial presentation, First Phosphate has made progress in realizing its purified phosphoric acid plant by securing industrial lands, sourcing sulfuric acid and phosphate concentrate, and developing partnerships for the production of APP and LFP batteries.

The company has also completed a pre-feasibility study for its APP plant and established important relationships with indigenous communities, further strengthening local support for the project. Meanwhile, formal requests have been submitted to Hydro-Quebec to ensure the supply of clean energy needed to operate the facilities.

The government of Quebec has recently recognized apatite as a critical and strategic mineral, further supporting First Phosphate's ambitions. With key downstream partnerships and a solid financial model, the Company is positioning itself as a major player in the LFP battery industry in North America.
