FLYHT Receives STC Certification for the AFIRS Edge(TM) on Boeing 737 NG Aircraft
CALGARY, AB / ACCESSWIRE / June 11, 2024 / FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. ("FLYHT") (TSXV:FLY)(OTCQX:FLYLF) announced today that Transport Canada has granted a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the AFIRS Edge™ 5G wireless data communication device on Boeing 737 NG aircraft.
This STC allows FLYHT to ship the devices to Canadian Boeing 737 NG customers and expand distribution globally. FLYHT achieved this milestone in partnership with Air North, which will also adopt the solution for enhanced aircraft communications and operational efficiency.
According to Kent Jacobs, President and Interim CEO, this marks the second STC approval for the AFIRS Edge. The device is now certified for both the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 NG aircraft, placing FLYHT in a leadership position in 5G wireless data communication.
Under an agreement from October 2023, Air North will integrate the AFIRS Edge, along with AFIRS 228 Iridium SatCom, into their Boeing 737 NG fleet. This integration supports Air North's fleet renewal plans and enhances operational efficiency.
The AFIRS Edge provides various capabilities, including Wireless Quick Access (WQAR), real-time engine data reporting, and enhanced weather forecasting, among others. It aims to improve safety, efficiency, and operational productivity for airlines.
