Friedrich Vorwerk Secures Major Contract for South German Pipeline
Friedrich Vorwerk Group SE has won a significant contract to construct a 61 km section of the South German Natural Gas Pipeline (SEL). The contract, awarded by transmission operator terranets bw, forms part of Germany's ambitious pipeline project extending 250 km from Hessia to Bavaria. This section joins previously commissioned parts totaling 128 km. Construction is set to start in summer 2025, coinciding with ongoing work on another segment.
The project, valued in the low triple-digit million euro range, aims to connect modern gas-fired power plants to the grid, supporting a transition from coal-fired power and eventually transporting hydrogen by 2030. SEL contributes to CO2-neutral energy supply goals for regions including Rhine-Neckar and Stuttgart. As additional sections will be tendered over the next years, the demand for energy infrastructure remains robust, aligning with Friedrich Vorwerk's capabilities and future expectations.
