Friedrich Vorwerk Secures Major Contract for WAD Pipeline
Friedrich Vorwerk Group SE has won a significant contract to construct key parts of the Wardenburg-Drohne (WAD) natural gas transmission pipeline. The project, awarded by Open Grid Europe, involves a 36 km segment, valued in the low three-digit million euro range. This undertaking is a joint venture with the Austrian HABAU Group, combining expertise to execute the task.
The WAD pipeline extends 90 km and constitutes the second phase of the Etzel-Wardenburg-Drohne project. Friedrich Vorwerk is already involved in the first section, ensuring seamless continuation of work upon its planned completion in late 2025. In total, the joint venture is responsible for a 60 km stretch with a substantial project volume.
This infrastructure is pivotal for Germany's energy transition, designed to accommodate hydrogen transport. With ongoing plans for expansive gas and hydrogen networks, Friedrich Vorwerk anticipates sustained demand, leveraging its extensive experience in pipeline construction.
