FUCHS and E-Lyte Open Production Plant for Electrolyte Solutions in Kaiserslautern
On September 13, 2024, FUCHS and E-Lyte officially inaugurated the first German production plant for electrolyte solutions in Kaiserslautern. The plant will produce up to 20,000 tons of electrolyte per year, a significant milestone for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries as well as supercapacitors. A large portion of this output will serve the market for battery electric vehicles.
In May 2022, the FUCHS Group acquired a 28% stake in E-Lyte Innovations GmbH, marking its entry into the growing electrolytes market. This investment allows E-Lyte to provide the European battery market with critical components from local production.
The state-of-the-art plant in Kaiserslautern, highly automated and environmentally friendly, significantly reduces production costs and waste. The German Environmental Innovation Programme funded the construction due to its sustainability benefits.
CEO Stefan Fuchs highlighted the company's expansion into the battery market and the rapid development of E-Lyte from a startup to a major player. The project has also earned E-Lyte a nomination for the German Entrepreneur Award in the "Rising Star" category.
